MattStaatsNewWe’d like to introduce you to Matt Staats, the Go West IT Director of IT Services. Matt is responsible for facilitating responsive, efficient, and thorough resolution of customer support requests, implementing standard operating procedures based on industry best practices, and ensuring the successful and timely completion of customer IT projects.

Matt has over 15 years experience in the information technology field, seven years in IT resource management, and a Bachelors of Information Technology Management. His technical certifications include MCSE 2003, MCP Windows XP/7, A+, Network+, Server+, Security+, and is a Dell Certified Systems Expert. In addition, Matt is working towards his MCITP Server 2008 and VCP-DV certifications, as well as a Masters in Information Technology Security Assurance.

“Matt brings a lot of IT services management experience to Go West IT,” says GWIT President David Lewien. “We are always looking for ways to improve the quality of our services and Matt has been where we want to go in terms of implementing processes that insure consistent adherence to industry best practices. He’s also a great personality fit for our team.”

We asked Matt what he most enjoys about his job and he replied, “I like the diversity of new and exciting challenges that we are faced with on a weekly basis, and how we come together as a team, taking them on with tenacity and perseverance. The thing I appreciate the most is the team that I manage and work with. Although I’ve only been here a short time, I’ve come to appreciate what each individual at Go West IT, be it technical or back office, has to offer.”

Matt says that he’s worked with a variety of talented and dedicated professionals throughout his IT and military career, but has rarely seen a team with as much synergy as what he’s experienced at GWIT.

“When faced with challenges, our own or that of a customer, we always come together and do what it takes to ensure the timely completion of the task at hand. If I were a Go West IT customer, knowing what I know, I would feel confident that my infrastructure was in very competent and capable hands.”

Matt grew up in Ravenswood WV, where he joined the Military. During his travels, he fell in love with the state of Colorado and decided that he would pursue the opportunity to live, work and retire here. When asked why he loves Colorado, Matt says that he really enjoys the people here and loves living near the mountains. As rough and unpredictable as it can be at times, he even loves our Colorado weather.

When he’s not at work, Matt enjoys hiking, going to shows, watching and playing football and other sports, and most of all, spending time with his two boys. He loves The Avs, The Rockies, and (of course!) The Broncos, but says The Colts will always be his favorite team.
